A new report from research firm Screen Digest has suggested that the online PC games market in the West will more than double in size by 2007, with revenues growing to over $2 billion. Revenues from online PC games are expected to exceed $1 billion in North America and Europe during 2004, with growth expected in the massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) market, pay-per-play browser gaming, gaming on demand and casual game service advertising. Pay-per-play browser gaming grew from $35 million in 2000 to $137 in 2003, and is expected to grow by an annual rate of 40% to 2007. The MMOG market is expected to remain the largest single market for the foreseeable future, but the report cites concerns regarding oversupply and pricing strategies. Source: gamesindustry.biz
