Western Digital Cites Increasing Xbox Sales In Q1 Results

Hard-disk drive maker Western Digital yesterday reported an 8% increase in growth in fiscal Q1 (which ended September 27), citing its contract to supply drives for the Xbox as a growing revenue stream.
Matt Massengill, Chairman and CEO, said that hard drives for the Xbox totaled 7% of the company's 8.6 million units shipped in Q1, or about 602,000 units. Massengill believes that the company will ship more units in Q2 as new Xbox games spur console demand, but he did not provide specific guidance on upcoming Xbox hard drive sales.
