VoodooPC Puts Upgradable Radeon In VoodooPC Notebook

ATI Technologies has announced that VoodooPC will be using its RADEON 9600 mobile graphics chip in its upcoming VoodooPC Envy M460 Gamebook.
Expected to ship in August, one of the key features of the M460 Gamebook will be the ability for users to have their laptop upgraded to new ATI graphics chips. So, although ATI claims the RADEON 9600 has full support for DirectX 9.0 and four times the gaming performance of the next fastest laptop, it will be possible to upgrade the graphics in the future, when new generations or larger memory configurations are available. VoodooPC will be offering graphics upgrades through its Lifetime Upgrade Program, which allows users to purchase new graphics modules at wholesale, then ship the laptop back to Voodoo, who will then install the module, upgrade the laptop’s BIOS, drivers, and perhaps the operating system, before returning the unit. The cost will be the wholesale cost of the parts plus a nominal upgrade fee.
