The organizers of Game Developers Conference have announced that the Video Games Live concert series is returning with
a new show for GDC 2007, to take place in San Francisco this March.
The concert will take place at the Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium on the evening of March 9th, 2007, and Video Games Live itself is an immersive concert event featuring music from the biggest video games of all time. It features exclusive video footage and music arrangements, synchronized lighting, solo performers, electronic percussionists, live action and unique interactive segments.
The
GDC 2006 Video Games Live concert featured music from game titles such as
Mario, Zelda, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Warcraft, Myst, Castlevania, Medal of Honor, Sonic, Kingdom Hearts and
Final Fantasy, and since then, the concert
has confirmed dates in Phoenix, AZ, Edmonton, Canada, and even Wellington, New Zealand for early 2007, ahead of its GDC appearance.
Special events surround the show, including a pre- and post-show festival. Guests at the various shows have previously enjoyed interactive game demos, a costume contest, game competitions, pre-released games and the very popular meet-and-greet with top game composers and designers.
In conjunction with this announcement, the Game Developers Conference (part of the CMP Game Group, as is Gamasutra) has a ticket offer specifically for the GDC community. From now until Dec. 31st you can
pre-order Video Games Live tickets, with the first 400 tickets (marked with the 'Game Developers Conference Offer' on the order page) receiving a 10% discount. Exclusive priority seating has been set aside but only until December 31st.
