A representative for Viacom has claimed that the entertainment company is not interested in acquiring Electronic Arts, and has not entered into discussions with that company or any other video games publisher. The statement came in response to a New York Post article that claimed Viacom representatives had begun to inquire about Electronic Arts, which has a market value of around $15 billion. The Viacom spokesperson pointed out that Viacom chairman Sumner Redstone had already stated that the company considered Electronic Arts to be too expensive an acquisition. The Post article also suggested Viacom was looking at Atari and THQ as possible acquisitions, but not Midway – which Redstone privately owns a majority share in.
