UK Sales Chart, Week Ending September 10th

Evidence of last week’s launch of the PSP console in the UK has already begun to recede from the top ten sales charts, although many of the format’s top rated games have maintained very healthy sales, with Ridge Racer remaining the number one PSP title. With retail focus shifting to a more disparate range of formats, entries from earlier weeks such as Delta Force: Black Hawk Down and Super Monkey Ball Deluxe have been catapulted up the chart to somewhere near the positions they might have originally been expected to achieve, were it not for the distraction of the PSP launch. There have also been several wholly new entries, with Ubisoft’s latest Rainbow Six title entering the chart straight in at number one, with 76 percent of sales being attributed to the Xbox version. This is an usually high number for a multiformat release in the UK, although largely expected given the nature of the game, and its additional Xbox Live features. The entry of Vivendi’s new Incredible Hulk game at number five might be seen as slightly disappointing, given the considerable marketing push behind the game, but it is still a relatively strong debut for the title. Konami’s PSP first person shoot ‘em-up Coded Arms is the next highest entry, at number nineteen, with THQ’s MotoGP: Ultimate Racing Technology 3 at number thirty-three and Codemasters’ second PSP title, Colin McRae Rally 2005, at number thirty-four.
