This week, Star Wars: Battlefront has risen to the top of the all-formats UK sales chart, beating out previous incumbent The Sims 2. Although The Sims is widely promoted as the best selling PC game of all time, it does not enjoy that accolade in the UK - where soccer management simulation Championship Manager holds the record. Electronic Arts have little to worry about though, with four titles in the top ten and potential Christmas number ones such as FIFA Football 2005 and Need for Speed: Underground 2 still yet to be released. Despite the scuffle between Activision and Electronic Arts at the top, it is actually Nintendo’s two new Pokémon titles that have sold the most units during the week. If the sales of the two games (which, as ever with Pokémon games, are virtually identical and only released separately to promote trading) were combined, they would have eclipsed sales of Star Wars: Battlefront by 21.4%, according to information from Chart-Track.
