Electronic Arts’ dominance of the UK video game sales charts was reduced to "only" five titles in the top ten this week, with
FIFA Street 2 still at number one and
Fight Night: Round 3 overtaking Ubisoft’s latest
Ghost Recon title despite the new release of the Xbox version.
Surprisingly, the highest new entry of the week did not go to Sony’s
24 license, but instead to fellow PlayStation 2 exclusive
Buzz! The Big Quiz. A sequel to last year’s music quiz game the new general knowledge based title has entered at a much higher chart position than the first game last Christmas, albeit at a much quieter time of year for sales in general.
The third new entry in the chart is
Diver: Parallel Lines, which despite much more positive reviews than the previous game, has not performed anywhere near as strongly. Indeed it was almost overtaken by
Burnout Revenge, which reappears in the top forty on the back of the new Xbox 360 version of the game.
Outside the top ten, THQ’s Xbox 360 exclusive title
The Outfit entered at number thirteen, despite mixed reviews, while Eidos’ first person WWII action strategy
Commandos: Strike Force debuts at number eighteen. In what has proven a busy week for new releases in the UK, Sega’s latest Sonic the Hedgehog spin-off,
Sonic Riders, has come in at number twenty, followed by Capcom’s
Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams at number twenty-six.
