After weeks of very little activity, the UK sales chart features a number of new releases, although predictably, with so many new titles appearing at the same time, consumers have been forced to make some difficult purchasing decisions.
The result of this rush to market is that the latest
Medal of Honor has made it into first place, ahead of other, perhaps more critically well-received titles. The relatively weak market for PC games in the UK compared to many other continental European countries will also have played a part in keeping DICE’s
Battlefield 2 from the top spot.
THQ will likely be satisfied by the performance of
Destroy All Humans!, though, especially as its immediate superior in the chart is the company’s own
Juiced, which continues to perform well.
Tekken 5, published in the UK by Sony, seems to have suffered more than others from the bottleneck of releases, considering the performance of earlier titles in the series, and the entry of
Conker: Live & Reloaded at number ten is competitive, given its platform exclusivity.
Dynasty Warriors 5 has also performed above expectations, with a new entry at number fifteen – the best ever for the series and its spin-offs in the UK. THQ scored another minor success with
MX vs. ATV Unleashed at number twenty-two, while Atari’s evergreen
Roller Coaster Tycoon series saw
Roller Coaster Tycoon 3: Soaked! enter at number twenty-five.
The final new entry in the top forty was Nintendo DS title
Another Code: Two Memories (aka
Trace Memory) at number twenty-eight, which has yet to be released in North America, but has already done tolerably well for Nintendo of Europe.
