Once again, there has been little movement within the post-holiday UK sales top ten, or even the top forty. Need for Speed: Underground 2 is number one for the eighth consecutive week, and the other titles in the top ten have moved no more than one or two places in either direction. With virtually no games being released all month – a peculiar tradition that has taken root in recent years, despite a number of high profile January releases in the U.S. and elsewhere – the situation is unlikely to change until February. In the meantime sales continue to decrease, and such movement as there is in the charts is entirely due to widespread discounting in the January sales.
