Although it was planned as a trilogy, UK games festival GameCity has added another year to its run, event organizers announced today -- and it'll be free to attend.
GameCity Squared is set for Nottingham City from October 27-31, and promises to "take the considerable virtues of previous events and amplify them, whilst simultaneously pruning out the rubbish bits."
Market Square will again be the centerpoint of the unconventional event, shaped
far more like a cultural festival than a traditional conference.
Last year's GameCity featured Media Molecule's Alex Evans on the genesis of LittleBigPlanet, a 2000 zombies-strong "undead singalong" with folk singer and "Still Alive" artist Jonathan Coulton, and the launch of Harmonix and SCEE's National Videogame Archive, among other events.
"GameCity represents a unique platform for the games community to step up as an important part of contemporary culture," said festival director Iain Simons. "We’d like to urge the developer and publisher community to get in touch with ideas, however improbable they might seem."
