EA’s
Spore has hung on to its number one chart position in the UK, despite a 23 percent drop in sales in its second week. In fact, the entire top four is unchanged from the previous week, and there are no new entries in the top 10.
Combined sales of
Mercenaries 2 fell by only 5 percent in the game’s second week -- though while the Xbox 360 version kept its place at number two, the PlayStation 3 version fell three places to number nine. Combined sales for
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 also held steady, with sales down only 9 percent and the Wii version up one place to number six.
Although there were no new release in the top 10, two older titles did re-enter due to retailer promotions, with
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on Wii up nine places to number five - with an increase in combined sales of 85 percent. Sales of
Guitar Hero: On Tour on the Nintendo DS were up by as much as 185 percent, moving up nine places to number seven.
The highest ranked new entry of the week was Nintendo DS game
The Sims 2: Apartment Pets from EA at number 20, closely followed by the Xbox 360 version of Midway’s
TNA iMPACT! at number 21. The PlayStation 3 version of the wrestling simulation charted at number 28, and the PlayStation 2 version at number 39.
Overall in the top 40, there were 14 games for the Nintendo DS, 13 for the Wii, five each for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, two for the PC, one for the PlayStation 2 and none for the PSP.
