Sony’s Killzone 2 has beaten Microsoft’s Halo Wars to the top of the UK sales chart. The long-awaited PlayStation 3 title became the second fastest seller on the platform in the UK -– after Gran Turismo 5: Prologue -- and the fourth fastest selling Sony published title of all time. Topping both the individual and all-platform charts, Killzone 2 also becomes Sony’s first all platforms number one in the UK since God of War II in April 2007. New at number two is Halo Wars, the real-time strategy spin-off from Microsoft’s famous first person strategy series. The game sold only 17.6 percent of Halo 3’s record breaking first week total, but outsold Command & Conquer 3 by a factor of 3 to 1 to become the fastest-selling console strategy game ever. Combined sales of Street Fighter IV fell 49 percent in its second week, with the PlayStation 3 version down five places to number six and the Xbox 360 version down two to number four. Wii Fit held steady at number three, despite a 11 percent drop in sales, with most of the rest of the chart also seeing a decline. A major exception was Professor Layton and the Curious Village, whose continuingly varying stock levels this week saw a rise of two places to number five. The only other new entry in the top 40 is Konami’s Silent Hill: Homecoming, which was delayed from its originally intended European release date last Halloween. The Xbox 360 version debuted at number 13 and the PlayStation 3 version at number 17. In the separate all platforms chart, which combines all SKUs of a game into a single chart position, the line-up was very similar, with Killzone 2 at number one, Halo Wars at number two and Street Fighter IV at number three. Overall, in the top 40 chart by individual platforms, there are 12 titles for the Xbox 360, nine for the Wii, eight each for the Nintendo DS and PlayStation 3, two for the PC, one for the PlayStation 2 and none for the PSP.
