Representatives from the University of Central Florida and Electronic Arts have announced joint plans to create a training academy for video game software. The planned UCF Interactive Entertainment Academy will open in autumn 2005 and will be fuelled in large part from a $4.2 million grant from the state of Florida.
That grant was pitched as part of an effort to lure an East Coast headquarters for California-based Electronic Arts. The university plans to put the academy in downtown Orlando and turn out one hundred graduates a year.
