Ubisoft has announced real-time strategy simulator title
Dawn of Discovery for Wii, DS, and PC, the North American name for the latest in the long-running
Anno series originally created by Sunflowers.
The title will debut in North America in Summer 2009, and showcases Ubisoft's work to bring previously 'core' strategy-style games to larger audiences on Nintendo's consoles, as well as in its traditional PC setting.
Dawn Of Discovery takes place in the year 1404, and the
Civilization-style empire-building gameplay allows players to explore, set up trade posts, learn skills from other cultures, and expand your own kingdom into a prosperous society.
Formerly known as
Anno 1404,
Dawn of Discovery is the North American title of the game, and the first time the franchise has appeared on the Wii -- previous DS and multiple PC games have debuted in Europe in North America.
"Dawn of Discovery allows gamers to take the civilization-building experience to the next level of fun and interactivity," said Adam Novickas, director of marketing for Ubisoft. "We're pleased to be bringing the brand new, uniquely designed game to not only the PC and Nintendo DS, but also to Wii."
