Ubisoft Takes I Am Alive In-House

Ubisoft is taking disaster survival title I Am Alive from developer Darkworks to continue the rest of its development in-house at Ubisoft Shanghai. The game was previously slated for a March launch, but Ubisoft recently said it needs more development time, pushing it into its next fiscal year starting in April. "In order to respect the new launch date for this ambitious title, and Darkworks having other obligations, we have mutually decided to complete development of I Am Alive at Ubisoft Shanghai, as the two studios have collaborated on aspects of the title over the past year," the company said in a statement. In its most recent financial results, Ubisoft expressed dissatisfaction with the quality levels of some of its holiday releases, with CEO Yves Guillemot commenting that some unspecified games did not "achieve their full potential." As part of its strategy going forward, Ubisoft is planning to focus on larger games angled as major hits: "a product mix geared more toward blockbusters and less casual."
