Ubisoft Pushes Haze To 2008, Delays Splinter Cell

Ubisoft has announced that its Free Radical developed FPS Haze has been pushed from an early December release to the first quarter of 2008, as Splinter Cell Conviction similarly moves to the next fiscal year. The announcement came as part of its official first half financial results, showing sales up 52 percent to €261 million ($372.86 million), and profits up nearly 12% to 30.6 million euros ($44.8 million). The company, which had just re-confirmed a December 14th release date for Haze in Europe, along with a December 4th U.S. date, has said the game "will now be launched in the fourth fiscal quarter" -- some time in early 2008. "In addition," the release read, "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction, previously scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007-08, will now form part of a stronger line-up for fiscal 2008-09." Finally, the company announced Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 due for release some time in the same quarter as Haze. "The targets previously announced by Ubisoft remain unchanged," read the statement, "as they already took into account the possible impact of these delays as a preventive measure."
