French-headquartered publisher Ubisoft today announced Star Wars: Lethal Alliance, a new licensed action adventure game for the PSP and DS that is the first official title in a continuing long-term licensing partnership between Ubisoft and LucasArts. The PSP version of the game is being developed by Ubisoft’s Montreal studio, while its Nintendo DS counterpart is being helmed by the company's Casablanca studio. Both versions are scheduled to launch worldwide on December 6, 2006. Lethal Alliance will feature an adventure that takes place between 'Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith' and 'Episode IV A New Hope', and will involve Twi’lek Rianna Saren of the Rebel Alliance, as well as her security droid sidekick, Zeeo, as they work together to infiltrate the Empire in order to uncover the secrets behind the Death Star. Ubisoft and LucasArts noted that the game include settings and characters from the films, including both Coruscant and Darth Vader, as well as those created specifically for the game. Lethal Alliance will also feature unspecified multiplayer modes that will enhance the game's collaborative gameplay while taking advantage of each system's unique capabilities. “Ubisoft is honored to announce this exciting and innovative Star Wars game, the first original game in the legendary franchise built to take full advantage of the unique capabilities of both the PSP system and the DS,” said Serge Hascoet, chief creative officer at Ubisoft. “We have worked closely with LucasArts to create a game that further develops the Star Wars universe, and unveils some of the mysteries that have kept millions of fans enthralled for decades.”
