Ubisoft Announces Driver 76 For The PSP

Officials from publisher Ubisoft have announced Driver 76, a Sumo Digital (Outrun 2) co-developed, PSP exclusive title to debut this March, and the first Driver game since Atari's sale of the franchise.
Officials from French-headquartered developer and publisher Ubisoft have announced that the company will release Driver 76, a new action driving game for the PSP set within the Driver franchise that was acquired from Atari in July 2006. The game, which is being developed by Sumo Digital and Ubisoft's Reflections studio, marks the first Driver title from the franchise to be released by Ubisoft since it acquired the series. Set to be released in March, the game will feature content new to the series, as well as 27 missions specifically designed to take advantage of the capabilities afforded by the PSP. Additionally, while no information has been released concerning the game's used of licensed material such as cars or music, a statement from Ubisoft announcing the game did note that Driver 76 will feature an “authentic '70s soundtrack” complete with classic songs from the decade. Set against the backdrop of the 1970's, Driver 76 will offer a central storyline, as well as side missions, multiplayer gameplay, and mini-games. Ubisoft officials further note that the company plans for downloadable content for the game, as well as a vehicle modification system that will permit users to customize their cars by spending money earned by completing jobs.
