French-headquartered Ubisoft announced that it has appointed investment banking veteran Marc Fiorentino as a new, non-executive director of the Splinter Cell publisher's board. The board of directors will submit his appointment for ratification at the next Ordinary General Meeting, scheduled for September 25. The decision, which took effect on July 10, 2006, follows the resignation of Ms. Yvette Guillemot, one of the members of the Ubisoft-founding Guillemot family, who had served on the board of directors since January 25, 1996. She played an active role in decisions made by Ubisoft since its introduction on the Paris stock exchange and has played an instrumental role in Ubisoft's growth over the last decade. Mr. Fiorentino, 46, a graduate of HEC, a prestigious business school in France, specializes in financial markets and medium-sized companies. For more than 15 years he served as director of European operations for a number of US investment banking institutions, including Bank of America, Drexel Burnham, PaineWebber and more recently Salomon Smith Barney. He subsequently founded his own brokerage firm, Euroland Finance, in 1999. In addition, he comments for France's BFM and LCI radio networks on finance, economics and the business world. “I am very happy to welcome Marc Fiorentino to our board of directors,” said Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's CEO and Chairman of the Board. “His vision and remarkable career as an entrepreneur, coupled with his extensive experience in the financial industry, will enhance and strengthen the expertise of our board of directors. The addition of Marc Fiorentino to our roster at Ubisoft represents yet another asset for the group as it pursues an ambitious strategy of growth.” “In a growing, changing industry, Ubisoft is a true success story,” said Marc Fiorentino. “Serving on Ubisoft's Board of Directors will offer me an opportunity to promote entrepreneurship in France. Yves Guillemot and his brothers along with the entire Ubisoft team have transformed a French company into an international powerhouse, and the story is just beginning!”
