Ubi Soft Annual Sales Rise 42 Percent

Ubi Soft released its fiscal Q4 and annual sales results today, posting quarterly sales of $80 million -- an increase of 14 percent over the same period last year.
For the 2001/2002 year, sales came to $326 million, up 42 percent over last year. The company will disclose its full results, including net income, on June 26. The company released 151 SKUs during the year, up slightly over the 143 it released last year, and credited its new strategy of focusing games with "strong growth potential" as the reason revenues increased while keeping the number of SKUs fairly steady. Myst3: Exile, Rayman Advance, Batman: Vengeance and the Ghost Recon series were hailed by Ubi Soft as its big winners for the year. Sales on new console and handheld platforms (GBA, PS2, Gamecube and Xbox) accounted for 39% of annual sales, up from 9 percent last year. PC games, including Myst 3: Exile and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon accounted for 42 percent of annual sales. The company said it has 100 games currently being developed for 2002/2003, including Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Raven Shield, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc, and a new game by Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman.
