Following a lack of any major new releases for the North American game retail market in September, the PC release schedules have flowered into full bloom, with a whole suite of new entries. Long awaited real-time strategy sequel Age of Empires III has emerged as the number one title, although The Sims 2 expansion Nightlife has fallen only to number two in the charts. The second highest new entry is Firaxis' turn-based strategy title Civilization IV, just ahead of the third strategy game of the month: Lionhead Studio’s Black & White 2. WWII title Call Of Duty 2 is the highest ranking new action title at number seven, ahead of Quake 4. Fellow first person shoot ‘em-up F.E.A.R. may well have ranked higher overall, if not for its sales being split between the standard and “Director’s Edition”. Outside of the top ten, massively multiplayer online role-playing game City of Villains charted at number thirteen, with the Quake 4 Special Edition at number fourteen and the Civilization IV Special Edition at number sixteen. The final new entry was Rome: Total War expansion pack Barbarian Invasion.
