As a part of the recent U.S. Bancorp Piper Jaffary report NPD has revealed the top fifteen publishers in the USA from January to September 2003. During this period (which does not include the crucial fourth quarter Nintendo claimed the biggest market share gain, followed by Electronic Arts and Ubisoft.
Activision and Take-Two Interactive fared the worst, with both publishers dropping 3% of their market share from the same period last year. Sega have also performed poorly so far this year, with a drop of 1.6% and a position of only eleven – making their goal of becoming the largest third-party publisher in the world seem all the more distant.
