New L.A. based developer Titmouse Games has announced a partnership with long-running science fiction and fantasy magazine Heavy Metal, to make games based on its properties.
Working with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator and Heavy Metal editor/publisher Kevin Eastman, Titmouse’s first project with be a sci-fi action game named
Fistful of Blood.
The game involves alien female bounty hunters, vampires and zombies. The original story broke sales records when re-released as a hardcover collection and features artwork from British illustrator Simon Bisley.
"As demented as it is, I owe a lot of who I am to the wide body of work that both Kevin Eastman and Heavy Metal Magazine have exposed me to," said Aaron Habibipour, creative director for Titmouse Games.
"Kevin and I have worked together in the past, and it was a blast. We want to start Titmouse Games off right, and I can't think of a better way than to pack enough aliens, zombies, vampires, guns, blood, gore, vengeance, and sexy chicks in a game to take down a stampeding elephant,” he added.
"Having been a lifelong fan of Heavy Metal magazine I always thought the coolest part was the wide variety of stories that were published in every issue," commented Eastman. "And the chance to work with Titmouse gives Simon and I the chance to bring our Heavy Metal inspired visions to a much wider group of rabid fans!"
Several video games have been released based on Heavy Metal material over the years, including
Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 by Ritual Entertainment and Capcom’s
Heavy Metal: Geomatrix. Release dates and platforms for Titmouse’s new game have not yet been announced.
Titmouse Games was founded earlier in the month as a spin-off from the animation studio responsible for Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse series.
The company’s first announced project is console action role-playing game
Seven Haunted Seas, which creative director Aaron Habibipour discussed in a recent
Gamasutra interview.
