TimesTen Inc, makers of the TimesTen in-memory database engine, have announced the product's selection by Sun Microsystems
in its prototype Java-based online gaming server.
Capable of handling thousands of online players per server, the TimesTen technology allowed Sun to achieve a time per game action in the tens of miliseconds. The system can also be scaled across multiple servers in several different structures, allowing flexibility in the design of the server infrastructure.
TimesTen's system is being demonstrated at GDC in the Sun Microsystems booth, this week at the San Jose Convention Center.
