Organizers of the upcoming European game developer conference, GCDC, due to be held in Leipzig from August 20 to 22, have announced that the event will feature a keynote address by Double Fine founder Tim Schafer (Psychonauts, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle). A noted game designer with an impressive catalog of respected titles to his credit, Schafer is recognized as one of the key contributers to the adventure game genre, having worked for over a decade at LucasArts on titles such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, and Day of the Tentacle, a game he co-designed alongside current Telltale Games' senior designer Dave Grossman. In 2000, Schafer left LucasArts to blaze his own path by founding Double Fine Productions, whose first title, Psychonauts, went on to garner considerable critical acclaim. During his keynote address at GCDC, Schafer will speak to the the challenges and methods of interjecting creativity into modern game design. Commented Frank Sliwka, GCDC conference director, "Tim Schafer is an exceptional figure within the development community and his keynote speech at this year's GCDC will provide exciting insight into the creative game development process.” In addition to Schafer, other speakers confirmed for GCDC include esteemed developer Peter Molyneux, as well as Epic Games' Michael Capps, Cryptic Studios' Michael Lewis, EA Mythic's Jeff Hickman, and Stormfront Studios' Don Daglow, among others.
