European industry trade group The Independent Game Developers Association has announced its 2007 annual awards ceremony set to take place in London on January 30th, awarding winners by member votes across various categories, including two new to this year
The Independent Game Developers Association, a national trade association representing games software developers in the UK and Europe, has announced its annual awards ceremony for 2007, set to take place in London on January 30th. In addition to a new venue -- the Haymarket Hotel -- TIGA has also expanded the voting categories to include the 'best technology' and 'best cross-media application of games' categories. The latter award is for a company who provides services or technology across different media, including games, web, TV and film. TIGA members, who have until January 7th to register their nominations, will vote on the winners. The categories include: Best PC game / console game 2007; Best handheld console game 2007; Best mobile game 2007; Best technology 2007; Best cross media application 2007; Best developer 2007, and Best player (individual) 2007. Additionally, TIGA announced it has signed development industry specialist PR agency Peppermint P as the event's headline sponsor. TIGA CEO Fred Hasson commented, "For the 2007 awards we wanted to be able to showcase the vast array of talent that is currently residing in the UK and European development community, and some of the feedback we received from past awards has led us to introduce these new categories." He continued, "By giving our members the chance to also vote on the best technological achievements of the past 12 months, as well as embracing the new platforms and techniques in the cross media category, the TIGA awards are now even more reflective of the European development community as a whole."
