Publisher and developer Capcom announced that THQ Asia Pacific, a THQ subsidiary, will manage distribution, sales, and marketing for its upcoming releases across all platforms.
Under the agreement, THQ will take over distribution for Capcom's scheduled 2009 titles, including
Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV, Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop, MotoGP, and
Neopets Puzzle Adventure.
The new partnership comes several weeks after Australian and New Zealand independent distributor Red Ant, Capcom's previous distributor for the region,
revealed that it was in major financial trouble due primarily to Australia's weakening dollar, and had gone under external administration.
Konami, another previous Red Ant client, originally planned a deal that would have Red Ant handling its titles starting February 2009, but the distributor's financial uncertainty forced Konami to
return to a previous distribution arrangement it held with Atari Australia.
Red Ant's other distribution partners include publishers such as Bethesda, Midway, SouthPeak, Deep Silver, and Southpeak, and Rising Star Games.
