THQ has announced that SpongeBob SquarePants: Underpants Slam! will be the first title in the company’s portfolio of games developed specifically for Xbox Live Arcade, and is expected to release in November. The title, based on Nickelodeon’s animated series, will also mark the network’s debut on XBLA. THQ also said a new original XBLA title, Screwjumper, is also planned for a November launch. Screwjumper is a freefall demolition game, tasking players with driving off aliens by destroying their mining equipment, and it will feature both single and multiplayer modes. Following Screwjumper and SpongeBob, THQ says it will follow up with further new original titles for the XBLA, Elements of Destruction and Rocket Riot, though the company has not released any detail on either title. Bob Aniello, senior vice president of worldwide marketing for THQ, commented, “We view Xbox Live Arcade for Xbox 360 as a natural fit for many of our established casual brands," continuing, "We look forward to rolling out more titles with a slate of games that offer a variety of options via the popular Arcade network.”
