Representatives from Foundation 9 Entertainment division The Collective (
Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb) have announced the development of
Harker, a next-generation survival horror title inspired by the classic horror novel,
Dracula. The game, which does not yet have an announced publisher, is scheduled to be completed in 2008 for unspecified consoles.
Harker, which according to The Collective is poised to take the survival horror genre in a “more personal direction,” will place place players in control of Jonathan Harker on “a very personal mission to destroy all vampires after his beloved Mina falls prey to Dracula.” The game will feature gameplay that combines tracking and hunting shape-shifting vampires as well as close combat using a variety of weapons and environmental factors.
“'Harker’s' goal is to bring an in-your-face, visceral, and personal style of combat to the survival horror genre,” said Nigel Cook, producer. “None of these vampires are going to die with one shot. They’re going to fight for their survival, which will give the player a huge level of satisfaction when they successfully execute one.”
The Collective is currently developing
Dirty Harry, based on the classic Clint Eastwood films, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, as well as other unannounced projects.
