While independent console developer The Behemoth (Alien Hominid) briefly showed off a prototype version of its new game on a GameCube during the 2005 International Comic-Con in San Diego, the company has now formally announced Castle Crashers for Xbox 360 Live Arcade at this year's event. The game is a medieval-themed multiplayer 2D side-scrolling action title in a vein similar to classics such as Double Dragon, and the first level of the game, complete with an 'All You Can Quaff' mini-game, is being showcased at The Behemoth's Comic-Con booth. The company confirmed that Castle Crashers will be an Xbox Live Arcade title for the Xbox 360 in early 2007. Further showcasing The Behemoth's obvious appreciation for the Xbox Live Arcade development platform, the company also revealed, in an interview with Game Informer, that it will be making a version of its IGF-winning Alien Hominid available for Xbox 360 Live Arcade download this holiday season. While the game was ported to the original Xbox in 2005, that version was only released in the European market. The Behemoth has also launched an official website for Castle Crashers, complete with a collection of screens, an announcement trailer, and news that you will be able to “play with up to three friends and discover mind-boggling magic and mystery in the amazing world we have created just for you.”
