One-time Sega UGA boss Tetsuya Mizuguchi, particularly known for creating games such as Sega Rally, Space Channel 5, and Rez has announced, via his weblog, that his company Q Entertainment will be unveiling a new game at the Tokyo Game Show next week. Relatively little has been revealed about Q Entertainment's in-progress games, but earlier interviews with Mizuguchi have indicated that he may be working on a spiritual successor to Rez, his critically acclaimed Dreamcast/PlayStation 2 rail-shooter. Sources have also indicated that this new game may appear on handheld systems, perhaps including the Sony PSP and Nintendo DS. This is Mizuguchi’s first game since he departed Sega in late 2003, after his internal UGA studio was folded into the Sonic Team branch as part of a major Japanese restructuring for the company. A publisher for this new Mizuguchi-designed Q Entertainment title has yet to be named, but is likely to be revealed alongside the game's specifics at TGS.
