Ternary Software announced today it will begin providing training and consulting in Agile software development for the video game industry, including teaching techniques from popular methodologies like Scrum and Extreme Programming (XP). Agile software development is already used by some video game developers such as High Moon Studios (Darkwatch), which has previously received awards for its adoption of the "Scrum method" for producing video games using agile development. Ternary Software is a long-time practitioner and advocate of Agile techniques, with business lines in both outsourced development and Agile training and consulting. The company is now adding the video game industry as a major focus for its training and consulting services, including for its InsideAgile approach to Agile adoption. According to comments made by Ternary Software: "...with its focus on people, collaboration, adaptability, and working-software, Agile is a positioned as a way to help increase software quality, market acceptance, and quality of life – a challenging topic in the video game industry." In related features posted on this website, Gamasutra has previously featured articles on Extreme Programming, and will debut a new Agile technique-related article from a senior coder at High Moon Studios in the near future.
