A recent survey by Japanese video game print magazine Famitsu has indicated what next-generation titles shown during E3 interest the magazine's readers the most, as well as what consoles were found to be most interesting, as well as what readers thought about the price of Sony's PlayStation 3.
Of all of the titles shown during E3, Famitsu readers voted that Nintendo's
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii and GameCube was the most wanted game at the show, followed by Square Enix's latest in its evergreen franchise,
Final Fantasy XIII, and Hideo Kojima's
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PlayStation 3 from Konami.
Square Enix's Wii title
Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen & The Tower of Mirrors, relatively underappreciated by Western consumers, was the fourth most voted on title according to the survey, followed by two other Wii titles from Nintendo,
Super Smash Bros. Brawl and
Super Mario Galaxy.
Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS was voted as the seventh most wanted game from E3, followed by a pair from Capcom with
Monster Hunter 3 for the PlayStation 3 and
Biohazard for the Wii. Microsoft's Xbox 360 first-person shooter sequel
Halo 3 ranked as the tenth most wanted game from the show.
Perhaps the most interesting information from the survey was that an impressive 68.8 percent of Famitsu readers surveyed found Nintendo's Wii console to be the most interesting console at E3, with the closest competition coming from Sony's PlayStation 3 with 21 percent of the vote. In addition, 7.2 percent of readers voted for the Xbox 360, followed by 3 percent who found the Nintendo DS to be the most interesting console shown.
Finally, Famitsu readers were asked what they thought of the price for the PlayStation 3, which will go on sale in Japan on November 11 for 59,800 yen for the 20 GB version, with the 60-gig system to have its price set by Japanese retailers. Of those surveyed, an overwhelming 88.4 percent said the priced was too high, while only 10.9 percent agreed with the price. Just 0.7% of those surveyed by Famitsu found the price of the PlayStation 3 to be too low.
