Two hands grip onto the Steam Deck

The arrival of the Steam Deck is nigh. Valve's portable machine for playing Steam Games will begin its journey out into the world on February 25th.

On that date, Valve says it will begin sending the first wave of order e-mails to users who pre-ordered the device over the last year. If you're one of those people, you'll have three days to complete your purchase (which will include paying for shipping and handling).

Devices will start heading out to customers on the 28th, which means March will be the first full month of the Steam Machine economy.

Will the device be able to compete with the Nintendo Switch? Will it be a boon for developers making games that might be more fun to play on the go? 2022 will be the year we truly find out.
