to be broadcast in association with Gamasutra on Tuesday, August 19th, HP and Intel are hosting a talk given by 'serious games' expert Peter Smith, discussing the state of games with social or educational messages, and profiling the educational MMOG
Lunar Quest.
Smith, who is a Research Associate at the University of Central Florida's Institute for Simulation and Training, is currently working on multiple proejcts, including
Lunar Quest, which is
described as "...a National Science Foundation-funded project that seeks to examine the effectiveness of a massively multiplayer game for teaching introductory physics."
Also speaking on the webcast will be John Newman, who currently works with U.S. Military Simulation and Training accounts as a Workstation Specialist for HP.
