Acclaimed developer Warren Spector has confirmed via his official blog that he is working on a new title for CGI animation studio Pixar, after his company Junction Point Studios was
acquired by Disney Interactive last year.
Best known for complex, PC originated titles such as
Thief and
Deus Ex, Spector revealed at the time of the acquisition that he would be creating both new franchises and those based on existing Disney properties.
Writing in his blog for the first time in several months, Spector
indicates that his new title has made “amazing progress” recently. Prior to the Disney takeover Spector had been working with movie director John Woo on a cross media project named
Ninja Gold, but the status of this title is currently unknown.
Spector then went on to say that, “My team and I have been working hard on our own and (get ready for the cool factor to go way up) in collaboration with folks from Disney Feature Animation and Pixar. If I say anymore, I’ll get in trouble, so let’s just leave it at that.”
No further details were provided, but the new title is unlikely to be similar to his previous titles with Spector
recently stating at the Game Education Summit that “one hundred hour games are on the way out” and that he was “so tired of making games about guys in black leather carrying guns."
