Publisher SouthPeak Interactive has announced an agreement with Interactive Game Group and developer Legacy Interactive to publish Igor The Game
, a title based on the upcoming animated flim, Igor, scheduled to appear in theaters this September. Likewise, the video game is expected to ship for the Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC this September.
Igor, the movie, follows the eponymous hunchbacked lab assistant (voiced by John Cusack) forced to serve a mad scientist while dreaming of one day becoming a notorious mad scientist himself and winning the Evil Science Fair. Distributed by MGM Studios, the film is being created by Exodus Film Group in cooperation with The Weinstein Company.
In both the Wii and PC versions of Igor The Game
, players choose from one of four characters -- Igor, Eva, Scamper, or Brain -- and play either simultaneously or cooperatively with up to four people, exploring locales and fighting enemies from the film.
In the Nintendo DS version, players will use the system’s touchscreen and stylus to perform movement combinations, combat enemies, and solve puzzles. They’ll also be able to build custom monsters to take on puzzle challenges and battle against other mad scientists.
Said Legacy Interactive president Ariella Lehrer: "With Igor
, we set forth to capture the unique mix of dark, yet playful aspects seen in the movie. It's a great game that can be enjoyed with both friends and family and will appeal to a younger audience as well.”
