Sony Computer Entertainment networked products and services exec Kunimasa Suzuki can add a new role to his repertoire -- the company's named him deputy president of SCEI in addition to his current duties.
Suzuki will report directly to president and group CEO Kaz Hirai, supporting him in overlooking the PlayStation business' daily operations. The company says Suzuki's specific focus will be strategy and product planning, with those respective divisions now reporting directly to him.
Suzuki has been with Sony since 1984, beginning in the Overseas Marketing division. He's also been Sony Argentina president, working on expanding sales in the region, and has served as the general management of the Global VAIO Direct Company. He joined the consumer products group in April 2007, and served various roles related to strategy planning within the company.
"I’m very happy and pleased to welcome Kuni to the PlayStation team," said Hirai. "He has been working with me very closely as my right hand man at NPSG, and I’m confident that his talent and expertise in the area of consumer electronics products and network businesses, as well as the abundant skills and know-how he has gained through his experiences in diverse international markets, will bring new energy to SCE and help accelerate the further expansion of the PlayStation business globally."
