The U.S. International Trade Commission is reportedly looking into patent infringement allegations related to Blu-ray disc players and other products, and has included Sony in its investigation.
According to Reuters, the Commission
has said its investigation encompasses "short-wavelength light-emitting diodes and laser diodes used in such electronics as handheld mobile devices, traffic lights and high-definition DVD players."
The investigation was reportedly precipitated by a complaint filed in February by Gertrude Neumark Rothschild, a Columbia University Professor Emeritus, who says that a variety of U.S. imports infringe on her patent and should be blocked.
Along with Sony, Nokia, Motorola, LG Electronics and Panasonic maker Matsuhita Electric Industrial were also cited in the ITC's report.
