PlayStation creator Sony has come out on top once again in an annual Harris poll discussing which brands, over the entire spectrum of consumer products, are 'the best', showing the strength of the veteran electronics company's name. Market research firm Harris Interactive conducted its annual online survey (The Harris Poll) between June 7 and 13, 2006, polling 2,351 U.S. adults and asking: "We would like you to think about brands or names of products and services you know. Considering everything, which three brands do you consider the best?" For the seventh consecutive year, the brand most mentioned was Sony. Coming in second was Dell, with Coca-Cola in third. The rest of the top-10 were as follows: Toyota (No. 4), Ford (No. 5), Honda (No. 6), Hewlett Packard (No. 7), General Electric (No. 8), Kraft Foods (No. 9) and Apple (No. 10). Other brands over the entirity of media that received a significant number of mentions but not enough to make the top-10 list included Chevrolet, Panasonic, Pepsi Cola, Nike and Maytag - no other video game-related companies gained significant rankings. Andy House, Chief Marketing Officer, Sony Corporation commented of the results: "Sony's continued top rating in the Harris Poll is a clear indication of the ongoing respect and admiration consumers have for the company. This ranking reflects the combined power of all of Sony's products, including electronics, entertainment and games."
