Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) is working with online voice services provider Vivox to offer high-quality voice chat solutions to players of its library of online games.
In addition to having standard chat features, players will be able to leave and access voicemails, send broadcast messages, enable "voice fonts" to alter their voices, and receive external calls in SOE games, all with features hosted on the Vivox Network.
SOE plans to add these voice chat options to all of its games, including EverQuest II
, and its Station Launcher. This way, even users who aren't playing an SOE game can take advantage of the advanced services.
“These new voice services not only replace many of the voice chat options currently available but add a broad range of capabilities that streamline communication and empower gamers to maintain their online relationships in both the real and virtual worlds,” said John Smedley, president of Sony Online Entertainment.
