SMU Announces New Game Certificate Program

A new game development education program, called "The Digital Games Guildhall", has been announced by Southern Methodist University.
The Guildhall is an offshoot of SMU's Hart eCenter, located in Dallas, Texas, and will offer an 18-month certificate program beginning in July. The program is being led by David Najjab, who previously served as director of electronic arts and new media at the University of Texas at Dallas. The Guildhall curriculum focuses on three areas of game development:art production, level design, and programming. The program was crafted with help from Graeme Devine, Richard Gray, Tom Hall, Paul Jaquays, and John Romero, and SMU has stated that some of these developers may teach and/or mentor its students. The program will consist of six three-month terms, each culminating in a real-world project, and classes will be taught at SMU-in-Legacy in Plano, Texas. The tuition for the entire program comes to a hefty $37,000 (computer included), but financial assistance is available through SMU.
