Representatives from SlickEdit Inc have announced the release of a new collection of free utilities for Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005 development environment, to help programmers monitor, explore, and inspect the contents of their code. Included in the set are four editor gadgets, meant to add 'visual pizzazz' to the editor, including background images and wallpaper, and Command Spy, a utility to monitor command execution and see exactly what commands you've run, how many times you've run them and what key bindings are used to invoke those commands. The set also includes File Explorer, an easy way to open solutions, projects, or single files in Visual Studio, the Data Object Analyzer, which inspects the contents of any clipboard operation, or drag-and-drop operation, from any other application, and SLOC Report, which provides a graphical report of the total lines of code in a file, project, or solution. "At SlickEdit, we’re always looking for ways to make programmers more productive. We also like to make programming more fun,” said Scott Westfall, Director of Software Development. “SlickEdit Gadgets allows us to share these utilities with Visual Studio users for free." In addition to the free Gadgets, SlickEdit Inc. provides software developers with multi-language development tools and the most advanced code editors available for Windows, Linux, UNIX, and Mac OS X platforms, helping developers write more code faster, and more accurately.
