Slamdance is now accepting submissions for the
2008 Slamdance Games Festival, which is loosely scheduled to be held in October 2008 in Los Angeles. The festival allows for games of all varieties and in any genre, including the highly experimental.
The Slamdance Games Festival, which embraces above all else indie games, takes into consideration a game’s development level (professional versus student).
Game submissions have an early-postmarked deadline of June15, 2008 and a final postmarked deadline of July 1, 2008. The fee to enter is $30 for games that meet the early deadline and $40 for others (with discounted rates for students).

Formerly, the Slamdance Games Festival was held in Park City, Utah, in January (the same time frame and location as Sundance Film Festival) and alongside the Slamdance Film Festival. According to the organizers, due to the “the growth of independent games and the issues facing the medium, Slamdance has decided to separate the Games Festival from the Film Festival, while still focusing on bringing independent artists together.”
Bringing the Games Festival to the game development hotbed city of Los Angeles will hopefully garner more attention from the game industry and press.
New to the 2008 show, Slamdance Games will present a selection of the best titles from previous years.
