Advergame and conventional game creator Skyworks Technologies, Inc. has announced the formation of Advergame.com, a wholly-owned subsidiary that will specialize in delivering custom client-branded PC and web-based advergames.
During the last 9 years, Skyworks has created over 300 unique custom client-branded games for companies including BMW, Campbell Soup, CNN/Sports Illustrated, Comedy Central, ESPN, Ford/Lincoln, Mattel, Microsoft Network, MTV, Pepsi, Toyota, and others.
However, Skyworks itself is seeing growing demand for non-advergame development for Nintendo DS and Sony PSP, cell phone game development, and the direct sales of games to consumers over the Internet, so has decided to spin off its advergame division into a standalone subsidiary, still controlled by Skyworks.
"The explosion in interest in advergaming over the last year and the evolution of Skyworks Technologies, now celebrating our 10th year, has dictated that we create a separate business unit to focus exclusively on this rapidly growing segment of our business," said Garry Kitchen, Skyworks Founder and CEO.
