Officials from Vivendi Games division Sierra Entertainment have announced the appointment of Peter Della Penna as the president of High Moon Studios, developers of 2005's old west vampire FPS Darkwatch. Formerly known as Sammy Studios, High Moon Studios was acquired by Vivendi Universal in January 2006. Della Penna replaces High Moon's founding president John Rowe, who will move into an advisory role with the studio, which is one of four internal game development studios at Sierra. Prior to taking on this new position, Della Penna served as the chief operating officer for Sierra Entertainment's Worldwide Studios. He joined Vivendi Games in 2001 as senior vice president for studio finance and operations, and has more than 15 years of experience in publishing. The executive has also held senior positions spanning external development, internal support, quality assurance, customer service, operations and finance. "We look to Peter to direct all aspects of the critical development work being done for Sierra Entertainment within High Moon Studios," said Martin Tremblay, president, Worldwide Studios for Sierra Entertainment. "I'm confident under Peter's leadership, High Moon will continue the momentum John has established." Della Penna added: "I'm truly honored to join High Moon Studios in this capacity and look forward to building on the foundation of creativity and quality already in place. I'm excited about the enhanced interaction I'll have with the team focused on producing a strong slate of Sierra Entertainment products."
