Game development tool companies Stonetrip and Gendai Games said they have both added iPad support to their respective game creation technologies, Shiva 3D and GameSalad.
Stonetrip's Shiva 3D game engine now supports iPad, PC, Mac, Web, Linux, iPhone and Android under one license. The French company officially added iPad support on March 18 this year.
"The market is very competitive and having powerful tools early gives developers the opportunity to compete and have a first mover advantage on emerging platforms," said Stonetrip CEO Philip Belhassen.
This week, Austin, TX-based Gandai Games also said it would be adding iPad support to its GameSalad development platform. "GameSalad is for users of any skill level, and its ease of use is what has led to its success to date," claimed GameSalad CEO Michael Agustin. The platform utilizes a drag-and-drop tool for creating and publishing games.
Users can
get GameSalad for free online. When ready to publish, those users must enroll in a membership to get access to supported platforms. GameSalad supports iPhone, iPad, web and Mac development.
