Sensaura has rolled out its new Playstation 2 middleware product, the Sensaura 3D Positional Audio (S-3DPA) which will be exclusively distributed by Criterion Software Ltd. The product enables game developers to include a number of realistic 3D audio effects and environments in all of their PlayStation 2 titles.
The technology, which already has an estimated user base in excess of 40 million, is the result of over a decade of R&D into the human hearing process and how to reproduce 3D sound from speakers and headphones. S-3DPA uses an exclusive set of algorithms that have been developed together with special filters known as HRTFs (head related transfer functions). These form Sensaura's specialized audio libraries, which are the foundation of Sensaura's technology. Information contained in these libraries acts as a virtual head, simulating the real hearing process, thus making it the most precise 3D positional audio product available.
S-3DPA middleware features EnvironmentFX for 3D reverb, ZoomFX for large sound realism, and MacroFX for near-field sound placement for creating superior levels of audio realism for PlayStation 2. Sensaura 3DPA has been engineered specifically for user-friendliness and supports industry standard programming formats such as Microsoft DirectSound3D, EAX and I3DL2.
