Sega Sued By Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

The San Francisco Chronicle today reported that Sega of America is being sued in federal court by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), claiming that the company fired a number game testers based on their Filipino background.
The suit also claims that another four workers had been dismissed because of their friendship with an employee who complained about discrimination. The EEOC had apparently attempted to settle the suit with Sega prior to filing suit, but the two parties could not come to terms. Sega has denied the EEOC's charges, and told the newspaper it would defend itself. The EEOC is an independent federal agency originally created by Congress in 1964 to enforce Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
